E.A. Wildman ran an organisation known as the Corpun Educational Institute in the late 40s and 50s in the U.K. It was virtually the only source for spankophiles at the time. Some of the material was fantasy and most of it had to be dressed up as educational material so that he could get away with it! I particularly remember one item, which I am quite sure was from real life and not a fantasy. His correspondent, John, was a middle-aged man writing of an experience he had at the age of 14 in the late 1920s. At this time, his parents went overseas for a couple of years, and he was placed in the care of his bachelor uncle who, like the boy's parents was financially secure in the upper middle class. He proved to be an excellent guardian for John, but he had one peculiarity. Every Sunday, he would take the boy on a visit to a woman friend for afternoon high tea and whipping! The woman, a widow, had a daughter (I can't remember her name, but I will call her Joyce), a very pretty girl of about 15. Each Sunday, she was punished for her misdeeds of the previous week. The punishments were prolonged and elaborate. We do not get to know very much about them, because Joyce is forbidden to speak about them to anyone, on pain of 'getting the worst thrashing of her life'. We do know this from the few comments that she was able to pass to John. Joyce always wore 'flapper' dresses. At that time, skirts were above the knee, and girls of her age wore them shorter still. They were usually attenuated and of flimsy material. Joyce wore these on punishment day, even in the coldest of weather, and British houses were not centrally heated in those days. The dresses were tight-fitting around the rump, and this would have added to her discomfort after a beating. It is not unlikely that she would be kept naked under the dress. The proceedings always began in the same way. Joyce was required to bend over and clasp her ankles. She was then whipped with a piece of auto fan belt about 2'6" long. The minimum number of strokes was 12, but it was usually more, and sometimes much more. On one occasion it was 33 lashes. Since the strokes were delivered with full force by a muscular man, this alone constituted a severe flogging by any standards. Joyce never cried out, confining herself to a few wails and gasps as the pain mounted. It was obvious to John that this must have been going on for years for her to be able to show such fortitude. She told John that 'it seems to scorch my seat'. John is at pains to point out that there was no sexual element at all in what he saw. Of course, her short skirt rode up when she bent over, showing the backs of her thighs. These were always unmarked at this stage, and the fan belt was only used on her bottom. This thrashing with the fan belt was, however, merely a preliminary to the 'real' punishment, which John never witnessed. The three of them would retire upstairs, and would usually remain there for about an hour. After this, they came down again and Joyce would prepare tea. Sunday would be the servants' day off, which is presumably why it was chosen as punishment day. Joyce was never punished during the week. When the meal was prepared, Joyce had to serve it. She always showed every sign of having endured severe punishment, moving slowly and carefully, wincing at every step. After serving, she was allowed to sit and eat with the others, but while they sat on plush chairs, hers was a hard wooden seat, which obviously caused severe discomfort. Occasionally John was able to exchange a few words with her - such comments as "It was awful - they've got a new one [implement]", "That was the very worst - I hurt all over", and "they are going to give me the rest later". He notes that if she bent over or when she sat down, he could see that her thighs, front and back, were always covered with angry red weals. Sometimes, it seems, a thrashing with the fan belt and an hour in the bedroom was not enough! I am quite convinced that this is a true record. John was never beaten by his uncle, and he himself is obviously not a spankophile. Nothing is said about the offstage floggings, but they would certainly have been described in loving detail if this were fantasy. John only offers us what he saw and heard, and this is described dispassionately. His uncle and Joyce's mother are obviously ardent flagellationists who use the 'punishments' as an entertainment for themselves. One of my favourite fantasies concerns these upstairs sessions. I am fascinated by the opportunities offered during the Victorian and Edwardian eras for the thrashing of female servants and schoolgirls, who were at the bottom of the heap in those chauvinistic and hypocritical times. Although they displayed excessive prudery in their public lives, even going to the length of hiding the legs of furniture with covers resembling female drawers, there were no such inhibitions in the private lives of the upper classes. I have found very many references to this, and if anyone is interested, I can provide a number of examples. Please let me have some feedback if you are interested.
