This page is intended to explain the most common reasons we give for rejecting pages and those which
are asked about frequently by webmasters.
If you are still unclear about the reason why your page was rejected please email webmaster@richards-realm.com
who will be able to help you. If your question is answered here you will simply be directed back here, so please
read through the links above.
- What is a misleading link?
- Misleading links for us mean any link which is, well, misleading; which is phrased in such a way as to "trick"
the surfer into clicking on it. For example:
- "Next Gallery" which links through to a sponsor or your main page.
- "More Free Movies Here" which links through to a site without any free pictures (samples) or where
it's very difficult to get to the free pictures.
- "10,000 movies absolutely free" when you need a dialler to access them (or you need a credit card).
- "Enter" or "Enter here" links on their own, which lead to sponsors or unrelated sites.
Essentionally, misleading links are links where the link text isn't really accurate or a fair reflection of where the
link leads.
Do please note, however, that the use of blind link advertising programs is okay, providing the text used to describe
the link isn't misleading as described above.
- What is a misleading banner?
- Misleading banners are very similar to misleading links (above), except the banner
is designed to fool or "trick" the surfer into clicking on it. For example:
- Banners which are made to appear like one or more thumbnails.
- Banners which have "Next Page" or "Home" on them in text; where the banner is made to look
like navigation links.
- Some "click/pic" banners which are resized images and have insufficient text on them.
Misleading banners are, basically, those which are designed to make the surfer think that he/she is clicking on
something else.
- What do you mean by "Page scrolls widthways."?
- The majority of our surfers have their screen resolutions set at 800x600 or less (the most popular setting is
800x600). We check all the Movie Page submissions in a window 800x600 in size and if we need to scroll
to the right to see some of the links to movies we reject the page. It's usually best to have the thumbnails in a table
no more than 750 pixels wide (to accomodate the scroll bar and the normal border around the page). If your (free)
host has an advertising table at the top of the page which is wider than 800 pixels, then it's best to align
your thumbnails table to the left. (Click here to open a window at
800x600 for you to view and test your page)
- What do you mean by "Unable to connect to server.", "Two or more files not served." or "Page/movies loaded too slowly.", I can connect to the page okay?
- Obviously we aim to list the very best and quickest pages for the surfers, so
if we have difficulty in connecting to your page (perhaps your server or site is down), if some files do not load
(a problem with some overloaded free hosts) or if your page is too slow then we will reject it - even if the page
appears okay to you. If you think it is now okay, then please do resubmit the page.
- What do you mean by "Too much on gallery page."?
- "Too much on gallery page." is our polite way of saying that there are too many banners, links or other
images or perhaps too much text on your page for the number of movies that you have.
- What do you mean by "Too much on movie pages."?
- Some movie clips are embedded in HTML pages, the thumbnails/links don't need to link directly to the movie
(the actual movie files themselves), but they must at least link to a page with the movie embedded in it.
"Too much on movies pages." is our way of saying that there are too many banners, links or other
things on the page(s) with the movie on. As a guide, we generally allow something (one banner, link or image)
above and below the movie.
- What do you mean by "We do not list pages containing lolita/schoolgirl links or references.", there aren't any on my page?
- "Lolita" is a book written by Vladimir Nabokov about a middle aged man seducing a 12 year old girl
(more here). The
term "lolita" has developed to mean "a seductive adolescent girl" (dictionary.com).
We do not link to sites which promote or purport to promote child pornography. Any use of the terms "schoolgirl",
"lolita", "young teens" or anything similar on your page will result in it being rejected.
- What do you mean by "At least one thumbnail/link not linked to movie."?
- This is where not all the thumbnails or links link through to the appropriate movie and go to another page, site
or sponsor instead! This might sometimes be used as a rejection reason when the movie hasn't been uploaded,
is missing or the link is incorrect and your host's 404 File Not Found error page is shown instead (they often have a
customized page with banners on).
